It is time to prepare for our 2026 Championship Meet. The following items are required for a successful meet. The swimmer fee for champs is $18 per swimmer. Swimmer fees are due on July 8th at the equipment turn-in/coaches' meeting.

  1. Champs Volunteer List:

We all know that our championship meet requires many volunteers. We appreciate the work involved in recruiting our volunteers.

  • Please fill in the sheet as you identify and assign volunteers. We can then start producing name tags over the next week rather than the day before the meet. Please let us know if there are any issues accessing the file.
  • If you are not able to fill a position, please reach out to another team to see if they can trade or fill the position for you.
  • The sheet has two tabs. The first (in red) is the master list (Volunteer Master). The second is a list to capture our more experienced officials for strokes and turns.
    • If your team has officials who have USA Swimming experience or more than 5 years of summer league or YMCA experience, please also list them on the second tab (Highly Experienced Officials). This will allow us to set the deck in advance of the meet.
    • If your team has more officials who want to volunteer than slots, please add a row to the sheet. We’ll take all who want to help.
    • If your volunteers want to split the session, please add a row and change “All Sessions” to “1st or 2nd Half”.
  • Since the clerks-of-course work the entire session, they will have access to hospitality during the meet and are encouraged to step out onto the deck to watch their children swim.
    • If there is anyone who is very experienced at running clerk of course and would like to head the clerk of course for the entire meet, please reach out to [email protected] directly. RMAL offers additional perks for this level of commitment.
  1. Champs T-Shirts

The Champs T-Shirt store is open. Please use the following link to order your shirt. https://swimrmal.org/champs-tshirt

  • The shirts are $25 each.
  • The store closes at midnight on July 7th.
  • RMAL will sell a number of shirts at Champs on a first come, first serve basis. The ordering process collects the swimmer's name and the team. This allows our vendor to sort the t-shirts for us, so orders can be easily distributed at Champs. The team representatives can pick them up from the t-shirt table at Champs.
  1. Senior Recognition Template:

Please download and fill out the "Summer League Slides Template.pptx". 2026 RMAL Champs SR Slide Template.pptx

  • This template is formatted to display the senior photos and text on the scoreboard at the start of the afternoon session.
  • Please do not change the font size or exceed the space provided.
  • There can be one senior group photo and one individual slide for each graduating swimmer.
  • Please return these to [email protected] by July 8 so that we can compile them and get them to SwimRVA in time for the meet.
  1. Annual James Springer Memorial Scholarship:

https://www.swimrmal.org/scholarship

  • This scholarship is open to graduating RMAL swimmers who are swimming their last season.
  • These are due no later than July 7th. This deadline will allow the officers to review and vote on the winners.
  1. Coaches’ Meeting:
  • Wednesday, July 8 at 6:30 at Bon Air (Lower Room).
  • The agenda is to enjoy some pizza, wings, and make sure the meet is seeded and ready to submit to SwimRVA by Friday at 12 PM.
    • Any coach who cannot attend, please submit your entries by 12 PM on July 8. This will allow for the board and other coaches to verify it is ready for champs.
  1. Equipment and Ribbon Turn-in:
  • Wednesday, July 8, from 6 PM to 7 PM at the same location as the coaches' meeting.
    • We will check the starters, tripods, and dolphin timing systems.
    • During the coaches' meeting, board members will remove batteries and prepare the equipment for storage or repair.
    • Ribbons will be collected, counted, and prepared for storage.

Thank you for all that you do to make summer swimming in RMAL possible. We will be sending out additional information and requests as we have them.
